My name is Ganna Nekrylova. I am a folk artist, a motanka doll master. Member of the Union of Folk Craftsmen of Ukraine. I was born in the Cossack city of Zaporizhzhia, on the banks of the Dnipro River. I really like the steppe with its space, freedom and the smell of herbs under the sun. 
I make motanka dolls. My motanka’s are more modern, but using the traditions of Ukrainian historical “knotted” doll.
As a child, I really wanted to have a doll made of cloth, the kind that children played with before the advent of modern toys. Something in it was mysterious, “ancient” for me. I had not heard about motanka dolls in those times yet. It was my childhood dream about a doll.

I got to know motanka dolls later, when I came to work at the museum and was able to read the books on this topic from the museum library. From 2008 to 2022, I worked at the Zaporizhia Regional Art Museum, in the funds department, where I had the opportunity to be inspired by the beauty of painting, graphics and, of course, decorative and applied arts.I have visual impairments. But, if you really want to be creative, there is always an opportunity.Since 2014, I have been participating in various (including international and all-Ukrainian) exhibitions, competitions and creative projects. In some, I was the laureate of the first prize, or was awarded with special honors. In 2022, because of the war, I was forced to leave my hometown and leave my beloved job. But I did not stop making dolls.
I consider puppetry to be one of the best forms of art. For me, dolls are the embodiment of love. A mother’s love for her child. Love for people, for the surrounding world.

Мене звуть Ганна Некрилова. Я народний майстер, лялькарка. Член Спілки народних майстрів України. Народилася в козацькому місті Запоріжжі, що на березі річки Дніпро. Дуже люблю степ з його простором, свободою і запахом трав під сонцем. Роблю “ляльки – мотанки”. Вони в мене більш сучасні, але відштохвалася я від традиційної української “вузлової” ляльки. Мені в дитинстві дуже хотілося мати ляльку шиту з тканини, таку якими гралися діти до появи сучасних іграшок. Щось в ній було для мене таємниче, «давнє». Про “мотані” ляльки я тоді не чула. Познайомилася з ними пізніше, коли прийшла працювати в музей і змогла брати книги по цій темі в музейній бібліотеці. З 2008 по 2022 рік я працювала в Запорізькому обласному художньому музеї, в відділі фондів де мала можливість надихатися красою живопису, графіки і звісно декоративно-прикладного мистецтва. Маю вади зору. Але, якщо дуже хотіти займатися творчістю, то можливість знайдеться. З 2014 року беру участь в різних ( в тому числі міжнародних та всеукраїнських) виставках, конкурсах та творчих проектах. В деяких була лауреатом першої премії, або відзначена особливими відзнаками. В 2022 році із за війни була вимушена виїхати з рідного міста і залишити улюблену роботу. Але робити ляльки не припинила. Вважаю лялькарство одним з найдобріших видів мистецтва. Для мене ляльки це втілення любові. Любові матері до дитини. Любові до людей, до навколишнього світу.
